Step 1 - Get a LJ Account. Step 3 - Profit!
So now I'm on step 2, which boils down to "cook well enough and consistently enough that people will hire you to do it!"
I had a good lunch with
gailg last week during her brief Bay Area visit before school starts up again. She had some good advice about limiting my liability, and what I might need to do to make myself legal to cook for others, and protect myself financially.
I've also gotten myself a phone number for people to call in and schedule my services 24/7 - I haven't set it up yet, but when I do I'll let y'all know. I purchased Visio so I can start diagramming the call flow, so I should be able to start coding that soon. Yes, I know this is Step 1 stuff, which doesn't directly lead to step 3, but I'm a geek, so I have to :-)
Also trying to get in touch with a few family members who are enrolled or enrolling in chef school, so I can get some idea of what to expect!
